In the morning

Start early on a bright morning to get to the temple.

The temple

There it stands, solitary in an open clearing in the forest.

In the afternoon

Besides photographing the different elevations of the temple, the detailed motifs make excellent photographs.

The Evening

A tiring but delightful end to a day's adventure.

A temple that survived the test of time - We tell you its story

The 12th century temple of Lord Shiva was built in basalt stone and is said to be the only surviving specimen of Kadamba-Yadava architecture. This temple of untold historic value has survived invasions by Indians rulers as well as the attack of the Portuguese during the Goa Inquisition as it was remotely located in the deep forest cover of the Western Ghats.
