    The sand-covered dunes are a major attraction for tourists at Candolim beach. Located at a distance of 14 kms from Panaji, Candolim beach is south of the famous Calangute beach. It is a soft sandy beach that offers a wide range of water sporting activities, from para-sailing to surfing and is a relatively quieter beach as compared to the more crowded Calangute beach.

    Getting there

    Candolim is well connected by bus to Mapusa and Calangute. The nearest railway station is at Karmali, 14 kms away from Panaji. There is an interstate bus stand at Mapusa, the KTC bus station that can be used to travel to places. There are regular buses that travel from Panaji and pass through Candolim. The Dabolim airport is 36 kms away.

    Quick Facts

    • An interesting feature about Candolim beach is the ship River Princess, stranded on the shores since the 2001 monsoons. Swimming around the area is dangerous as the ship causes strong undercurrents.
    • Our lady of Hope church, founded in 1560 is visited by devout followers throughout the year and is an old impressive structure with splendid archaic beauty.
    • John's Boat Tours offers boat rides and is located at Candolim. The boat rides include fishing, crocodile spotting and dolphin rides, among many other attractions.
